Competition Repertoire - Interpretation

1st Round – Petr Bezruč Library in Opava

Time limit: max. 35 minutes

3rd Round – Church of St. Vojtěch in Opava

Time limit: min. 35 minutes, max. 50 minutes

  • Petr Eben: Any organ composition, cycle or a part of cycle (minimum duration of 10 minutes; the candidates are not allowed to perform a composition they have already presented in the 1st Round and they cannot combine compositions from two or more different cycles).
  • Representative program from the work of the following authors of the candidate's choice
    (it is possible to combine authors, play one or more compositions, cycle or even movements from cycle) Felix Mendelssohn, Franz Liszt, Max Reger, Julius Reubke, Charles-Marie Widor, Léon Boëllmann, Alexandre Guilmant, Josef Klička, František Musil, Bedřich Antonín Wiedermann, Louis Vierne, Maurice Duruflé, Marcel Dupré, Gaston Litaize, Flor Peeters.

Improvisation

Time limit: max. 15 minutes

  • Improvisation of a variation form a on a given sacred song theme
  • Free improvisation on themes by Petr Eben selected b  the Jury

Warning: The Jury may interrupt a contestant‘s performance if they exceed the time limits set for the interpretation and improvisation part. Assigned registrars are allowed to be present during the preparation (registration) and the competition (in addition to the own teacher). The rules of procedure are published in Czech and English. In case of ambiguity or dispute, the Czech language version shall prevail (see the Rules of Procedure and Organisation of the 23rd International Organ Competition of Petr Eben OPAVA 2026).

By sending the application I give my consent that my personal data (name, surname, nationality, school name, name of teacher, photograph, age) are used in printed materials advertising the Petr Eben International Organ Competition, in the competition timetables, the competition archive, and the competition programme booklet.
